PolySelf Installation

Prior to installation, determine the length of the drain line and the direction the water is to flow. This will dictate the number of channels (each channel is 39-1/4" or 1 meter in length) and the location of the solid end cap and the outlet end cap. The concrete bedding method (see photo above center) or use of the PolySelf seat bracket (see photo above left) are recommended as the simplest and fastest installation methods.
- Dig a trench approximately 12" to 18" wide and at least 8" deep. Set a string line to grade (finished elevation) the length of the PolySelf drain line.
- Place the grates on channels and lock in place. Tape or mask the grates to prevent concrete from entering the channels when placing the concrete in the trench.
- Installing the PolySelf system with a catch basin or the vertical outlet (located on the bottom of channel) requires the removal of the cutout area. Drill 5/16" holes around the cutout area approximately 1/4" apart along the indented area.
- The concrete bedding method requires a stiff concrete bedding slurry (somewhat dry) along the length of the trench. Butt the channels together in the trench, on top of the concrete. Allow the concrete bedding to cover approximately 2" up the side of the channel. Align the top of the channel with the string line. Allow the concrete bedding to set. Connect the outlet piping (see photo above right) as required.
- The PolySelf seat bracket installation requires the placement of one bracket at the location of each channel joint, leaving the bracket and the height of the channel (4-3/4") 3/4" high above the string line. Place channels into the brackets until the channel firmly rests on the crossbar. Tap the channel down (using a rubber mallet) until the channels are aligned with the string line. Pour concrete approximately 2" up the side of the channel and allow the concrete to set.
- Once the channels are locked into place securely, begin the final pour to bring the concrete level with the PolySelf channel.
